Born in Germany came to this country during World War II as a small child together with his parents. Peter grew up in Manhattan attending twelve years of school in the New York City public school system, graduating from George Washington High School before attending Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.

In 1965 Peter married Suse Meissner and spent their honeymoon in Montauk (at Gurney's). Together they had two sons; Alexander and Lucas. Suse is a world class sculptor and they have been living in Montauk full time since 1999 after owning a weekend home there since 1970.

A graduate chemist Peter worked in the leather industry until drafted into the U.S. Army. Upon discharge he started a plastics distribution company which he headed for almost 40 years before retiring in 2000. He has been a CCOM board member since 1992. He is also on the Montauk Citizen's Advisory Committee, the East Hampton Litter Committee and is President of the Montauk Pilots Association. Along with all this, he is now actively involved in two of his favorite passions: photography and flying.
