Celine Keating
Vice President

Celine Keating joined the board of CCOM in 1990 and became editor of the newsletter soon after. She was named a vice-president in 1998.

Celine Keating was born in Far Rockaway, and credits her love of the ocean to being lulled to sleep by the waves. She grew up in Glen Oaks, Queens, and spent family vacations at beaches on both North and South shores of Long Island. She and her husband, Mark Levy, began camping at Hither Hills State Park in the early 70s and later purchased a co-op apartment at the Atlantic Bluffs Club. Celine served on the board of Atlantic Bluffs Club for 10 years. With her husband and others, she was active in preserving the 17-acre Benson Reservations.

Celine earned a BA in political science and an MA in Urban Studies from Queens College and an MA in Creative Writing from City College. She worked as an editor in various publishing houses, including John Wiley & Sons, Holt Reinhart Winston, and Harper & Row, and later at BusinessWeek magazine. Currently she is a freelance editor, writer of both fiction (literary journals) and nonfiction (Coastal Living, Guitar World, and Acoustic Guitar magazines), and a grant writer for nonprofits.

In her spare time, Celine enjoys hikes with the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society, of which she is a member, and playing classical guitar.
